Our Philosophy

<empty>

There are two “truisms” that are the basis of our approach…

Price does not necessarily equal cost

Too often a solution that appears to be the best price can turn out to not be the least cost. This can be due to inefficient use of space (i.e. cubic footage versus square footage); equipment life expectancy/maintenance requirements; manning requirements; energy/operational costs

Form follows function

If your plans include adding space, the most efficient use of your dollars is to define your goals, plan how best to accomplish achieving those goals and then put the physical facility around it. Trying to “shoehorn” storage elements, mechanization and/or processes into existing footprints can be unnecessarily costly. It is amazing how often we find that another foot or two in clear height could have saved hundreds of square feet in flooring, roofing and fire protection.

If you feel confident that you have a solution/concept that will satisfy your needs (not necessarily your “wants”), we will be happy to offer you a quotation for the equipment and installation that meets that solution. However, we encourage you to consider bringing us in early in your planning to help define the function before starting the form.

We view MHD as a Consultative systems driven company. In order to develop the best solution for you, we need to understand your unique business practices, your present methods, your goals, financial hurdles and anything else that bears on your project.

For instance, if efficient warehousing is your goal we need to analyze your current SKU population including Master list, anticipated proliferation, Ti-Hi data, velocity by SKU, purchasing practices, environmental requirements, rotational requirements, existing or planned WMS, order fulfillment system, etc.

If you have a manufacturing or process driven environment, we need to investigate your raw materials receiving and storage practices, Inventory and/or Process Control System, WIP paths including buffers, finished inventory and order fulfillment.

After analyzing these types of data, we can then proceed to develop one or more concepts with ROM financial implications for your review and feedback. When consensus is final we can proceed with firm investment projections and implementation of the final system. This includes procurement, installation, training and testing to prove the attainment of performance benchmarks.

After the system has been implemented and operational for an adequate amount of time, we can review the effectiveness and efficiency of the system to determine if “tweaking” will improve performance.
